Benjamin "Ben" Taylor Lloyd, age 90, of Matthews, North Carolina passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024.
Ben was born June 6, 1934, in Gaston County, to the late Denver Patton Lloyd and Susan Pittman Lloyd. Ben spent his childhood in North Carolina and attended Central High School in Charlotte. After high school, he worked as an Operator at Spartanburg Ice Company. Ben was always a hard worker who was devoted to his company and career.
Ben married the love of his life, Connie, on May 23, 1953, and they were married for over seventy years. Together, they had four children, Becky, Sharon, Mike, and Jeff. Ben was a dedicated father and family man. He was overjoyed when he became Papa and Paw Paw to his grandchildren, Chancey, Jeremiah, Luke, Jason, Jake, and Justin, and great grandchildren, Colton, Waylon, Adelyn, Knox, Kaylen, Ethan, Orwyn, Maddy, and Kaylonai. Ben was known for his good sense of humor and his ability to be direct and honest with everybody. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching his favorite sports, car racing and gardening.
In addition to his parents, Ben was predeceased by his daughter, Sharon Sustar, and son, Mike Lloyd. He is survived by his wife, Connie Lloyd; daughter, Becky (Ray) Hoyle; son, Jeff (Wanda) Lloyd; and son-in-law, Randy Sustar; grandchildren, Chancey (Kristin) Lloyd, Jeremiah Hoyle, Luke (Amanda) Hoyle, Jason (Sara) Lloyd, Justin (Diane), and Jake Lloyd; and great grandchildren, Colton Hoyle, Waylon Hoyle, Adelyn Hoyle, Knox Hoyle, Kaylen Lloyd, Ethan Lloyd, Orwyn Lloyd, Maddy Lloyd, and Kaylonai Lloyd.
