Carolyn Falatovich
December 20, 1927 - March 3, 2023 (Age 95)
Carolyn Eve “Kitty” Falatovich quietly departed from this earth on March 3. 2023. She was born December 20, 1927 to Gertrude and Carlisle Landis of Penn, PA. She spent most of her long life on Washington Avenue in Jeannette, where she was known by the neighborhood kids as “Mrs. Toe”. Her permissive nature frequently led to groups of kids overtaking her kitchen to do homework, her basement to shoot bumper pool or her back yard to “sleep out”. She worked in a variety of jobs from a line worker in a box factory to a lunch monitor at Seneca Heights Elementary School, but enjoyed her time and friends at Jeannette Importing the most. Her only regret was not having an opportunity to join the Ice Capades. But that didn’t stop her from wearing her ice skates while doing laundry to strengthen her ankles … just in case there was an opening. Kitty was always up for a road trip. Whether it was a drive to Pitt’s Oakland Campus to cart college kids to and from Jeannette (where she could also be found in the Towers Lobby chatting up Tony Dorsett), a trip to Atlantic City or a cross country drive to California with her family. She especially liked her summer trips and Saturday movie excursions with her nieces (the “2-Pats”) and her sister-in-law, Rosalie “Toots” Falatovich. She was an avid Pitt football and basketball fan, lived a good long life and made many friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Andy Falatovich, her sisters, Yetive Baugh, Sarah “Blanche” Linsenbigler, Jacqueline Heasley and her brother, Harrison “Sonny” Landis. She is survived by her son, Gary Falatovich, his wife, Lillian, their children, Scot Houtz of California, MD, Laura Pedersen (Jakob) of Hershey, PA and a variety of nieces and nephews. At her request, there was no formal viewing. She was laid to rest peacefully. Do not weep. Just remember her well and fondly. Donations can be made in her name to the Jeannette Public Library. Mason-Gelder Funeral Home Inc. Jeannette, PA entrusted with arrangements.
