Dorothy A. Moyer

Dorothy A. (Shiflett) Moyer, 84, of Pottstown, PA, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2025. She was the wife of the late Charles Gary Moyer Sr., who passed away on May 5, 2021.

Born in Charlottesville, VA, on March 4, 1941, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Claude E. Shiflett and Pauline R. (McGlocklin) Shiflett.

Dorothy is lovingly survived by her sons, C. Gary Moyer Jr., husband of Lois, of Maywood, NJ; Scott E. Moyer, husband of Eric Cicippio, of Pottstown, PA; and Todd A. Moyer, husband of Christina, of Linwood, NJ. She was a proud grandmother to Kylie, Logan (Mei), Claudia (Matt), Caroline, Carson, and Carly, and a great-grandmother to Maddison and Vincent.

Dorothy worked her entire life - from Firestone Tire and Rubber, to Commodore Computers, to Medical Records - and she excelled wherever she was. But everyone who knew her understood this: the role that mattered most to her was being a mom. She did everything she could to protect and provide for her family. Her family often called her “Momma Bear,” the perfect description of her strength, loyalty, and fighting spirit.

Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Houck & Gofus Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 955 N. Charlotte St., Pottstown, PA 19464. A Life Celebration honoring Dorothy will follow at 12:00 p.m. Interment will take place afterward at Highland Memorial Park, 701 Farmington Ave., Pottstown, PA 19464.
