Elizabeth Goodine

Elizabeth Hughes Goodine (affectionately known as "Babe") departed this life the afternoon of February 2, 2022, after a decline in her health in Charlotte, NC. Elizabeth was born December 7, 1944, in Danville, VA, to Joseph Alexander Hughes & Henrietta Denny Hughes who both preceded her in death. Elizabeth was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and received her formal education through the Danville Public School System graduating from John M. Langston High School in 1963.
After high school, Elizabeth moved to Mount Vernon, NY to live with her brother, Rudolph Hughes. In 1966 Elizabeth married Charles B. Smith, Jr., her high school sweetheart. From this union they had 2 daughters, Pamela Smith Richardson and Pennie Michelle Smith. Years later the couple divorced. She later joined White Rock Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon where she served as a devoted member until her move to Charlotte, NC. In November 1975 she married Perry M. Goodine and from this union they had Shareef Danielle Goodine. In 1984 they decided to move to Charlotte, NC where her brother Paul lived. Shortly after she joined St. Paul Baptist Church where she was a member up until her death. Elizabeth attended Cosmetology school in Mt. Vernon and was a CNA dedicated to the care of the elderly for the greater portion of her life.
Elizabeth leaves to cherish her memory her husband Perry Mitchell Goodine of Charlotte, NC, and 3 daughters, Pamela (Willie) Smith Richardson, Pennie Mitchell Smith, and Shareef Danielle Goodine of Charlotte, NC; 3 stepsons, Michael (Kathy) Goodine, Barry Goodine, and Rodney (Bridgette) Goodine; 7 grandchildren (Pamela) Tatiana, Tamara, Tiara, Cornelius II, (Pennie) Robert, Kieran (Shareef) Caleb; and 4 great-grandchildren, (Kieran) Caleb, (Robert) Robert, Jr., (Tamara) Phoenix, (Cornelius) Legacy. Elizabeth is also survived by one sister, Betty Mae (Kenneth) Whipple of Danville, VA, and one brother, Paul (Carolyn) Hughes of Charlotte, NC along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
