Elsie V. Spayd

Elsie V. Spayd, 83 of Lancaster passed away at home on Thanksgiving, November 27, 2025. Born on March 31, 1942 in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Alberta Feldser Harnish. She was the wife of Robert L. Spayd, Sr., who preceded her in death.

Elsie was a hard worker and worked for the McDonald's on Columbia Avenue for 34 years. She read her bible daily and had a heart full of love for others. She enjoyed watching Greys Anatomy and going shopping. She loved buying Crocs and had over a dozen pair. She enjoyed going to Ocean Pines with her dear friend, Christine and playing games on the boardwalk.

She will be missed by her dear friend Christine A., wife of David Henise of Willow Street and her brothers, Martin C. Harnish of Lancaster and Stephen, husband of Shelly Harnish of Myrtle Beach and her sisters, Charlotte, wife of Gary Elliott of Myrtle Beach, Sandy, wife of John Lloyd of Clinton, Iowa and Pauline, wife of James Burrus of Houston, Texas and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her step children, Robert, Jr., husband of Denise Spayd of Lancaster, Kenneth, husband of Debra Spayd of Lumber Bridge, North Carolina, Michael, husband of Charlene Spayd of Mountville and Jeffrey, husband of Sue Spayd of Annville and step daughter, Stephanie, wife of William Alexander of East Petersburg. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles W., Jr. and James D. Harnish and sisters, Alberta Fisher and Kathleen Harnish.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend Elsie's funeral service on FRIDAY, DECEMBER 12, 2025 at 11am from the Melanie B. Scheid Funeral Directors & Cremation Services, 317 E. Orange Street, Lancaster with her brother in law, John Lloyd officiating. Interment will be held in the Riverview Burial Park, Lancaster.
