James R. King

June 17, 1961 - January 30, 2025 (Age 63)

James "Jim" R. King, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away suddenly at Riverside Memorial Hospital on January 30, 2025, with his loving family by his side. He was 63 years old.

Born in Zanesville, Ohio, on June 17, 1961, Jim lived a life dedicated to family and service. He was predeceased by his parents, Rosaline and Lester “Luke” King. He is survived by his devoted wife of 32 years, Gwen King; his three cherished children, Rebecca, Elizabeth, and James Anthony; and his four siblings, Harold, Larry, Teresa, and Deb.

Jim's career spanned over 44 years with American Electric Power, a testament to his dedication and hard work. He started as a lineman immediately after high school and worked in transmission line until he retired this past July. He was Catholic by faith and served proudly as Grand Knight twice with the Knights of Columbus, reflecting his commitment to service and fellowship.

Throughout his life, Jim was known for his unwavering devotion to his family. He was a loving husband, a supportive father, and a cherished brother. His warmth and generosity touched the lives of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family and countless friends.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to American Red Cross or Wounded Warriors Family Support.

Visitation to be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Monday, Feb 3rd & Tuesday, February 4th from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday February 4th at the Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home with Rev. Misty Moore officiating. Burial will conclude at the Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.

Celebration of Life to follow graveside service, all are welcome. Please join us for an informal celebration at Pleasant Grove Church-Zanesville starting around 1pm. Light food and refreshments provided.
