James Richard Kegg
June 13, 1952 - July 19, 2022 (Age 70)
On July 19, James “Jim” Richard Kegg, 70, of Bedford, Pa., was surrounded by family when he went home to be with his Lord and Savior.
Born in Bedford in June of 1952, he was the son of Dorothy Calhoun and the late James Kenneth Kegg.
James is survived by his mother, Dorothy of Burgaw, N.C.; brother, Barry of Selinsgrove, Pa.; sister, Joy McLawhorn of Burgaw, N.C.; and brother, Michael of Manns Choice, Pa.; his son, Joshua and wife, Lisa, of Warrenton, Va.; and son, Caleb and wife, Valerie, of Everett.
He loved and adored his three grandchildren: Jacob, Tyler, and Katelyn.
Jim was a life long resident of Bedford. In addition to raising his two sons, Jim put himself through college later in life to make a better life for his family. He graduated with an education degree from Shippensburg University and accepted the only job he ever wanted, which was to teach at Bedford High School, the same school he graduated from in 1970. There he had a successful career in teaching Social Studies and Government. While he was a staff member at BHS, Jim continued a coaching career that he began and loved many years earlier when he coached his sons in little league baseball and flag football teams. At BHS, he coached a number of seasons for the boys and girls varsity tennis teams, culminating in being awarded Coach of the Year in 2017, which he was very proud of.
Jim was a man deeply loved by his family, his many friends, and numerous kids that he was honored to teach and coach. In his final days, he expressed his love of family and friends and wished for everyone to know that though his body may have failed, his faith never did. One of his prayers was that everyone he knew and touched get to know Jesus Christ so that we all may one day meet again in Heaven.
