James Wert
August 28, 1930 - August 30, 2024 (Age 94)
James “Jim” R. Wert, age 94, passed away on August 30, 2024. Born in East Earl, Jim was the son of the late Ralph J. and Victoria (Coldren) Wert.
After high school, Jim worked at the shoe factory in Lititz . He then served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. Upon his honorable discharge, he went on to work at DeWalt Industrial Tool Company for 35 years.
Jim loved to travel, going to horse races and eating good food. He was an avid football fan, particularly cheering for Penn State. In any event, Jim always dressed for the occasion.
Jim is survived by his sister Pearl I. Schaefer and many extended family members.
In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his first wife Dolores J. (Sheaffer) Wert upon her passing in 2005 and his second wife Sylvia M. (Roschel) (Martin) Wert upon her passing in 2018; his siblings Marrian V. Wert, Dorothy E. Nagle, Lucy M. Kametz and Joyce E. Rye; and one stepson Christopher Roschel (2019).
A private service will be held to lay Jim to rest at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Compassus Hospice, 2101 Oregon Pike, Suite 301, Lancaster, PA. 17601.
