John H. Knore

February 12, 1942 - July 12, 2025 (Age 83)

John Harmon Knore, 83, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2025. Born on February 12, 1942, in Wheelersburg, Ohio. He was the beloved son of the late Frank and Emily Knore. John graduated from Columbus South High School in 1961 before answering the call of duty and enlisting in the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Division. He was very proud of his service and enjoyed having conversations with other veterans about their experiences.

John was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He held a 50-year membership in the Scottish Rite, F.&A.M., and served twice as Worshipful Master of Southgate-Potter Lodge No. 692.

John was a member of Madison Christian Church for many years. For the last five years of his life, John devoted himself to caring for his cherished wife, Rita. Their 58-year marriage was a testament to enduring love and partnership. He also took immense pride in his family: sons Mark (Kim), Terry, Joanie (Bill), and Johnny (Chrissy); grandchildren Josh (Sara), Taylor, Kyle, Kari (Zach), Doug (Taylor), Christian, Jaxson and Lia; and great-grandchildren Addilyn, Harper, Delaney, and Charlotte Mae, who was born the day before John’s passing; siblings, Marilyn Knore (Herbert) Weisenberger, Frank (Beckie) Knore, and Pamela Knore Castle. John was preceded in death by his grandson, Adam Ruff, sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia Knore (James) Niple, Judy Knore (Donald) Renner, and Bill Castle.

Family will receive friends, Tuesday, July 15, 2025, from 4 - 7 p.m. and on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, beginning at 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. at GRAUMLICH FUNERAL HOME, 1351 South High St., Columbus, Ohio 43207, with Pastor Matt Archibald officiating. Interment with military honors to follow at Franklin Hills Memory Gardens in Canal Winchester, Ohio.
