Joyce E. Joan

Joyce Ellen (Bunce) Joan, age 90 of Cambridge, passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at her home. She was born on July 26, 1933 in Mishawake, Indiana, a daughter of the late Hillie O. Bunce and Mildred L. (Scantlen) Bunce Shaffer.

Mrs. Joan worked for many years at the Daily Jeffersonian as a proofreader. She also enjoyed her high position in the fire tower at Saltfork State Park. Joyce was a former publisher of the Ohio Trail Riders magazine and a member of the Kimbolton Methodist Church. She enjoyed being a member of the Senior Center and singing with Sunnyside Singers. Joyce loved to talk and had a great memory of past events, which enabled her to tell wonderful stories of her childhood. Joyce’s greatest love was her family and neighbors.

Joyce is preceded in death by: her parents; her husband Earl Victor Joan on February 7, 2006; an infant son Scott Earl Joan; and two brothers, Neilan and David Bunce.

Surviving are: daughter Diane Marie Secrest of Cambridge; three sisters, Nina Wright of Pine Top, AZ, Naomi (& Dale) Young of Naples, FL and Mary (& Steve) Solberg of Tuscon, AZ; five grandchildren, Scott (& Andrew) Secrest-Bugbee, Shawn (& LaShawna) Secrest, Alisha Secrest (& Travis Moore), Josh (& Elizabeth) Joan and Travis Joan; seven great grandchildren, James David Kyler Secrest, Kasen Victor Secrest, Austin Michael Hall, Audrianna Marie Lingafelter, Tysheen Secrest-Bugbee, Adrian Secrest-Bugbee, Reese Secrest-Bugbee, Hanna Marie Joan and Abbie Joan.

Visitation will be at Bundy-Law Funeral Home on Friday, November 17, 2023 from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm with services to follow at 3:30 pm. Pastor Phil Murphy will officiate with burial to follow in Guernsey Memory Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to Kimbolton Methodist Church at 215 Main Street, Kimbolton, Ohio 43749.
