Judy Allen

Judy Helms Allen, 90, of Concord, NC, passed away peacefully at home Monday, June 10, 2024.
Judy was born July 25, 1933 in Mecklenburg county to the late Clyde and Pat Helms. She was preceded in death by her two beautiful sisters, Jane Helms Orr and Linda Helms McManus.
Judy was a farmer’s wife. Each day revolved around her children and husband that worked from sunup to sundown or later, if equipment broke. She adored him. She was known for her sweetness and smile. She was so grateful for every kindness anyone showed her.
Judy loved Jesus and she loved her Church family where she served with Women on Mission.
Judy worked with Jimmie in their store, Mint Hill Discount, until it closed. She became a nursing assistant at the Methodist home, then a medical receptionist in the infirmary and finally worked in accounts payable there before she retired.
She was a charter member of the Merry Mints square dance club started at Philadelphia Presbyterian Church. She loved to travel and dance. She participated in water aerobics at Simmons YMCA into her 80s.
Judy spent six months in Europe with Jimmie at the end of his Army service. She loved England and returned there to visit in her later years.
Judy loved tending her flowers and plants in the backyard. That was her happy place. She read her Bible daily and was the example her children and grandchildren needed.
Judy is survived by her beloved husband of almost 69 years, Jimmie Russell Allen Sr; son, Jimmie Russell Allen Jr and fiancé Cindy Griffin of Mint Hill, NC; daughter, Jan Allen Goode of Concord, NC; siblings, Joann Phillips of Harrisburg, NC, Gary(Fran) Helms of Midland, NC and Lewis (Avis) Helms of Concord, NC; two grandchildren, Olivia (Cole) Huffstetler and Allen Huffstetler of Mooresville, NC and numerous nieces and nephews that were loved immensely.
A visitation for Judy will be held Thursday, June 13, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227. A funeral service will occur Friday, June 14, 2024 at 2:00 PM at United Love Baptist Church, 11487 Flowes Store Rd, Midland, NC 28107.Judy will be laid to rest at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227.
