Aldara Earnest

Aldara Earnest, 94, passed away on April 11, at her home in Greensburg surrounded by her family. She was born August 21, 1928, in Versailles Borough, to James and Dorothy Streets who preceded her in death. After high school, Aldara moved to Greensburg to attend Westmoreland Hospital School of nursing. In Greensburg, she met the love of her life Edward Earnest. They married in 1949 and enjoyed 70 years together prior to Ed’s passing in 2020. They were blessed with five children, Kathy (Jon) Heckman, Ed (JoAnne) Earnest, Sandra Earnest, Lisa (Jon) Bishop, and Betsy Earnest. Aldara adored her family and it continued to grow, with eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. She loved taking care of children and worked her entire fifty-year career at Westmoreland Hospital in the pediatric unit. In her spare time Aldara was a very active charter member at the Hempfield Church of Christ where she taught Sunday school, played the piano for worship, and in her later years encouraged people every chance she got with a card or a phone call just to let them know she was thinking of them and that she appreciated them. She treasured spending time with her family whether it was cooking a Sunday meal for the group or going on our cherished annual trip to Ocean City, MD. Aldara will most be remembered for her love…her love of friends, her love of family, and most of all her love of God. Private interment will be at Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Greensburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hempfield Church of Christ, 144 Hugh Black Rd, Greensburg, PA 15601.
