Alice Bailey

January 17, 1943 - December 14, 2025 (Age 82)

Alice Summers Bailey, 82, of Rock Hill, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2025. Born on January 17, 1943, in Guyton, Georgia, Alice spent most of her life in Rock Hill, where she was deeply rooted in family, faith, and community.

Alice was a 1961 graduate of Rock Hill High School, where she proudly served as a Bearcat cheerleader. She treasured her high school years and always looked forward to class reunions, enjoying the friendships she maintained throughout her life.

After a brief career in banking, Alice chose what she often considered her most important and demanding role of caring for her husband and raising their two sons. She was a constant presence in their lives, whether behind the scenes or front and center, faithfully supporting them at school functions, ball games, and theater productions.

Alice was a devoted member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Rock Hill, where her faith guided her life of service. She was active in United Methodist Women and volunteered with numerous church ministries, including the Bethel Soup Kitchen. She later became a lay speaker and often delivered Sunday messages, sharing her faith and compassion with the congregation. She especially cherished her role as “Mimi” to her only grandchild, Adam, and took great pride in their close bond.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Grover Kenneth Bailey; her parents, Thomas Franklin Summers and Eunice B. Summers; her brother, Joe B. Summers (Peggy); and her sister, Frankie S. Wade.

She is survived by her sons, Kenneth Jeffrey Bailey and Douglas Lee Bailey (Sarah); her grandson, Adam Lee Bailey (Katie); and her great-granddaughters, Margaret Anna Bailey and Jane Elizabeth Bailey.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 19, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, South Carolina. A service will follow in the Greene Funeral Chapel at 2:00 p.m.
