Alice Matthews
July 27, 1935 - January 15, 2025 (Age 89)
Alice L. Mathews age 89, of Murrysville, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2025. Beloved wife of Emmett Kenneth Mathews for 48 years; Loving mother of Tim Shields, Kenneth E. (Laura Cohen) Mathews, Sarah (Mike) Palandro, Michael (Dawn) Mathews, Eric (Wendy) Shields, Susan Mathews, Charlie Mathews, and Donna Mathews; Grandmother of 14; Great-Grandmother of 19; Sister of Lois Zang and Marge Aiken; Preceded in death by her parents Milton and Sarah Wampler, her children Walter Shields and David Mathews and her siblings Milton Wampler, Merle Wampler, Howard Wampler and Helen Reffner.
Alice graduated from Norwin High School. After high school she then went on to take care of her family. Alice and Emmett moved to North Carolina for numerous years where she ran a cleaning company for 5 years. They moved back to Westmoreland County in 1995. Alice loved to shop with her daughter, Sarah where they shared many cherished memories. She loved going to her family camp in Clarion County where they held many family events. Alice will always be remembered as a kind hearted woman who was always cold. She will be dearly missed all who knew and loved her, especially at the annual Wampler Family Reunion.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, January 19, 2025 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the JOBE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC. (MONROEVILLE/PLUM CHAPEL) 445 Beatty Road, Monroeville (412-856-4747), A blessing service will be held Monday, January 20, 2025 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Penn Lincoln Memorial Park.
