Alice P. Somerville

June 11, 1927 – July 15, 2026 (Age 99)

Alice P. Somerville, 99, of Millersville, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Westfield, MA, she was the daughter of the late Mary (Rogers) and Merritt Phillips. She was the beloved wife of the late Arthur G. Somerville, the love of her life, whose memory she cherished throughout the nearly 50 years she lived as his widow.

Alice was a woman of quiet strength whose gentle nature left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. Kind, gracious, and humble, she found joy in life's simple pleasures and was happiest when surrounded by those she loved. For more than 40 years, she faithfully worshipped and served alongside her church family, where her steadfast faith and caring spirit were evident to all.

Her home was the heart of many cherished family traditions. Sundays were especially meaningful, as she lovingly prepared her signature Sunday roast and welcomed family to gather around the table. She and Arthur also shared a love of camping and traveling together in their RV, creating treasured memories on countless adventures. In quieter moments, Alice enjoyed relaxing with word searches and puzzles, always appreciating the satisfaction of solving each one.

Above all, Alice will be remembered for the warmth she shared, the grace with which she lived, and the unwavering love she had for her family. Her gentle presence, generous heart, and enduring devotion to those she loved will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Alice is survived by her twin daughters, Yvonne Somerville, of Millersville, and Yvette Sanchez, wife of Jose, of Millersville; eight grandchildren, Benny, Jimmie, Johnny, Jermaine, Devon, Tim, Jose Jr., and Destanee; 27 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and beloved husband, she was preceded in death by loved ones who welcomed her home.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at 7:00 PM at First Assembly of God, 1025 Columbia Avenue, Lancaster. Family and friends will be received from 6:00 PM until the time of the service. Interment will be private at Conestoga Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in Alice's memory.
