Alison Ruth Embody
June 23, 1946 - January 11, 2024 (Age 77)
Alison Ruth (Hartman) Embody, 77, of North Coventry Twp., PA, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2024, at Pottstown Hospital surround by her family. She was the loving wife of Terry R. Embody, with whom she shared 51 years of marriage.
Alison was born in Pottstown on June 23, 1946, to the late Albert and Rosemary (Lachman) Hartman, who was an esteemed elementary school teacher for 60 years and would cast Alison’s sense of duty through her life.
After graduating from Pottstown H.S. in 1964, Alison embarked on a remarkable career with the Bell Telephone Company, then AT&T through acquisition, and finally Lucent Technologies. Her impressive career spanned over 35 years until retirement in 2001 as a respected business operations manager.
Alison was known for her quick wit, immaculate dress, and style. She enjoyed counted cross-stitch and had a passion for Texas Hold'em tournaments where she excelled. She took pleasure in reading murder mysteries, James Patterson novels, and liked watching “Law & Order: SVU.” Her love of golf through the years included memberships at Brookside, Bellwood, and Reading Country Clubs, watching PGA events, and competing in golf leagues at Twin Ponds Golf Club. Lastly, she found great joy at the Jersey shore, especially Ocean City and Cape May.
Her sense of service was reflected by volunteering at Lincoln Elementary school, where she was a student in her elementary years. Additionally, she volunteered at Meals on Wheels and was an active member of Christ Episcopal Church in Pottstown. Alison’s patriotism was highlighted by her favorite colors of Red, White, Blue, and Gold.
Alison is lovingly remembered by her husband Terry R. Embody with whom she shared a strong sense of patriotism, her daughter Erin Embody (Mark Jakows), and sister Elissa Vasquez (Ed).
Visitation will take place on January 19, 2024, from 9:00–11:00AM at Houck & Gofus Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 955 N. Charlotte St., Pottstown, PA 19464. The funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00AM. Interment will take place after the service at Highland Memorial Park, 701 Farmington Ave., Pottstown, PA 19464.
