Almeda Marie Pittman

September 12, 1936 - August 29, 2024 (Age 87)

Almeda Marie Pittman was born on September 12, 1936 and passed away peacefully on August 29, 2024 after living a full life. Marie worked as a parts manager for Simmons Hospital Beds and then as a manager of a Morning Star Ministorage before retiring and moving to Arizona. She lived with her husband, Robert Pittman, in Arizona for many years with many of her family members before returning to North Carolina where she lived out the rest of her life near her children.

Marie was born in Wahoo, Nebraska and grew up in Ashland, Nebraska. Being married to a military husband she had the opportunity to travel and live in many places, such as Germany, Florida, Arizona, and North Carolina. She loved camping and spent many years enjoying this part of her life. Marie also loved to watch football and was a huge Nebraska football fan. Additionally, she also loved being a grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents John Christian and Dorothy Agnes Schwenck; her husbands, Nolan “Jerry” McCarthy, Gary Estes, and Robert Pittman; her sister Faith Wiemer, brother’s Bill Schwenck and Richard Schwenck. She was survived by her brother Bill Schwenck’s wife Vaunda her brother John Schwenck and his wife Pam and her brother Richard Schwenck’s wife Donna.

She was also survived by all five of her children: Dennis McCarthy, Steve McCarthy, Terri McCarthy, Shelli Moffitt and her husband Robert “Gene” Moffitt, and John Estes and his wife Mary Lou Estes; ten grandchildren: Michael McCarthy, Brian McCarthy and his wife Michelle McCarthy, Christina McCarthy, Nicholas McCarthy, Emma Estes, Samuel McCarthy and his wife Kaitlyn McCarthy, Stephanie Moffitt, Andrew “Andy” Estes, Aaron Moffitt, and Lauren Moffitt; and 3 great grandchildren: Mia McCarthy, Whitley McCarthy, and Lincoln McCarthy.

There will be a graveside service at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
