Alonso W. Muenk
August 21, 1941 – February 20, 2026 (Age 84)
Alonzo W. Muenk, known as Al or Lonny, age 84, of Irwin, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2026, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on August 21, 1941, in Reno, NV, Al graduated from Gilroy High School in California in 1959. He proudly served four years in the United States Air Force and also served in the Air National Guard. Following his military service, Al dedicated 56 years to the Overhead Door Company of Pittsburgh, where he worked in various roles and contributed his skill, reliability, and strong work ethic to the company and his colleagues.
Al married the love of his life, Lettie, on February 12, 1966, beginning a devoted marriage of 60 years filled with love, shared adventures, and steadfast partnership. Together they built a family life in Pittsburgh, creating a warm home and countless cherished memories.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. Al found joy in family, golf outings, shopping trips, home improvement projects, and especially time with his beloved puppy Zoe. His tenacity, sense of humor, and generosity touched everyone who knew him.
Al was preceded in death by his sister Charlene Creffield.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Lettie (Bernhardy) Muenk; his children Jeff Muenk (Anita) and Tracy Stewart (Scudder); his grandchildren Skylar Stewart (Regina), Carly Young (Phil), Sam Leverich, Emily Leverich, Aubree Stewart, and Cooper Stewart; and many dear friends and extended family who were blessed to know him.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, February 24, at the William Snyder Funeral Home, 521 Main St., Irwin. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 25, at First Presbyterian Church 617 Main St. Irwin with military honors following.
Al will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the love he gave so freely, the dedication he showed in his work and service, and the full life he lived. May his memory be a blessing and comfort to all who loved him.
