Amber Lynnell Stuver, 45, of Newtown Square, formerly of Greensburg, died Sunday, September 8, 2024, in Bryn Mawr Hospital, Bryn Mawr, PA. She was born October 5, 1978, in Illinois, a daughter of Eileen (Ritchey) Stuver Depcrymski, of Greensburg, and the late Richard Stuver. Amber was a graduate of Penn State University, receiving a Masters of Education and a PhD in Physics. She was an associate professor of physics at Villanova University. She had also worked at Caltech/LIGO, Louisiana State University, and Penn State University. Amber was a 2016 recipient of the Special Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, LIGO Scientific Collaboration, American Physical Society, American Astronomical Society, and the American Association of Physics Teachers. Her hobbies include genealogy, reading, and crocheting. In addition to her father, Amber was preceded in death by her sister, Brandi Stuver. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 21 years, Derek Bridges; sister, Brianne Depcrymski (Jaxson Peters); four brothers, Michael Depcrymski, Richard W. “Ricky” Stuver, Chris Small (Ellen), and Troy Small (Kathie); and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. A private family viewing and service was held at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg. Private interment took place in Westmoreland County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the National Marrow Donor Program.
