Angelo J. Cassette

March 29, 1933 - September 1, 2022 (Age 89)

Angelo J. Cassette, 89, of Greensburg, died Thursday, September 1, 2022, in Mountain View Memory Care, Greensburg. He was born March 29, 1933, in Santa Croce del Sannio, Italy, a son of the late John and Maria (Zeoli) Cassetta. He was a member of St. Paul Parish, Greensburg. Angelo was an Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. Always curious about how mechanical things worked, Angelo would frequently take something apart, build it back, and then create a better model. With that mindset, he worked alongside engineers at Westinghouse as an accomplished draftsman in their nuclear reactor division and is noted on several patents which were earned. An avid outdoorsman, he was a member and supporter of the National Wild Turkey Federation, and owner of AJ Cassette game calls, a successful at home business focused on building wild turkey calls. We estimate AJ built over 30,000 turkey calls in his lifetime and sold them across the United States over the last 40 years. With his passing, turkeys no longer quake in his presence! His sharp timely sense of humor will be missed as much as his dedication to family which always came first. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Mario and Joseph Cassette. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Norma A. (Angeline) Cassette; four sons, Daniel J. Cassette, James V. Cassette, Thomas A. Cassette, and Ronald E. Cassette; nine grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 4 to 7 PM Tuesday at the LEO M. BACHA FUNERAL HOME, INC., 516 Stanton Street, Greensburg. Prayers will begin at 9:30 AM Wednesday in the funeral home, followed by a funeral mass to be celebrated at 10 AM in St. Paul Parish, Greensburg. Private entombment will be in Westmoreland County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
