Anne Olesh
September 27, 1925 - July 30, 2025 (Age 99)
Anne Olesh, 99, of Hempfield Twp., passed away on July 30, 2025, with her daughter by her side. She was born to Alex and Anna (Maraskovich) Belak in Herminie. She was a devoted Catholic raised in the Byzantine Rite and, after marriage, until her passing, practiced the Roman Catholic Rite. Anne was a quiet, loving, and hardworking individual. After graduating from Sewickley High School in 1943, she joined countless women supporting the war effort as a munitions inspector. Later, with her husband, they established and operated several small businesses in Hempfield Twp. In her leisure time, Anne loved to garden her flowers, camp, boat, travel, read, and craft. But her greatest enjoyment was spending time with all her family at family reunions, holidays, and most of all, Sunday dessert nights with her immediate family sharing news, activities, and special occasions. Anne is survived by her daughter Marilyn (Alex) Cantini, with whom she lived, her grandson Alex (Teresa) Cantini, her special great-granddaughters Victoria and Madalyn Cantini, her goddaughter Julianne (Mark) Peterson, sister Patricia (Franklin) Slifkey, Alice Belak, and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband of 71 years. John in 2017, brothers Charles, Michael, John, Alex, and George. Sisters: Mary (John) Zakutney, Julia (Robert) Defenderfer, Sophie (Jerry) Nocera, an infant sister, Catherine (Frank) Monstrola, and Nancy (Frank) Eresh. The family would like to thank the Seton Hill adult day care center, Heartland Hospice, especially Melanie and Sue, and the staff of Westmoreland Manor, too many to name. For their friendship, care, and compassion, and relatives, neighbors, and friends, Pat and Shirley. In lieu of flowers, if one wishes, donate to the Westmoreland Humane Society or Westmoreland Food Bank. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 4-8 PM at the Ott Funeral Home, Inc., 805 Pennsylvania Ave. Irwin, PA 15642. Prayers of transfer will take place Wednesday, 9:30 AM in the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM at St. Agnes Church, Irwin. Burial will be private.
