Anthony Mashione Sr.

October 23, 1940 - November 12, 2024 (Age 84)

Anthony E. "Big Tony" Mashione, Sr. Age 84, of Monroeville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 12, 2024. Beloved husband of 60 years to Judith (Sands) Mashione. Loving father of Lynette (the late Daniel) McKinney, Anthony (Laura) Mashione, Jr., Rachelle Mashione, and Cheryl (Michael) Vrcek. Proud grandfather to Megan (Zachary) Anderson, Mara (Jacob) Hartman, Alexia (Matthew) Ruane, Ryan Mashione, Ethan Vrcek, Alexander Vrcek, and Nicole Stelly; and great-grandfather to Sebastian Stelly, Aubrey Anderson, and Daniel Hartman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Olga (Rosa) Mashione.

Tony honorably served in the US Air Force and following his military service he began his career with the United States Postal Service. He started as a mail carrier and worked his way up to become manager at the Pitcairn, Monroeville, and Plum offices, retiring after 42 years of dedicated service. When he wasn't working for the Post Office, he took great pride in doing various construction projects. Up until his last days, he still wanted to put on his boots so he could go to work at the construction site. He was also an active member of the Pitcairn Monroeville Sportsmen's Club. Tony loved to go to the mountains to hunt and spend time at the family camps. Gardening brought Tony great joy as well, and he always anticipated the last frost to start his garden and the first frost which meant it was the start of hunting season. He also looked forward to Sunday spaghetti dinners and especially looked forward to prime rib nights with his family. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved his family dearly.

Family and friends will be received Sunday, November 17, 2024 from 3-7 p.m. at the JOBE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC. (MONROEVILLE/PLUM CHAPEL) 445 Beatty Road, Monroeville (412-856-4747). A Blessing Service will be held Monday, November 18, 2024 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Entombment will follow at Penn Lincoln Memorial Park.
