Barbara Carol Demming

Barbara Carol Fox Demming, age 68, of Marysville, died Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Dublin Methodist Hospital following a brief illness.

A music educator for 35 years, Barbara retired in 2018 from Jonathan Alder School District. She also taught at Trinity Lutheran School, Marion Local Schools and for the Marysville Schools.

Barbara graduated in 1975 from Liberty Union High School in Baltimore, Ohio and received a bachelor’s degree in music from Ohio University. In recent years, she was awarded The Jennings Teaching Scholarship, an honor which was also bestowed to her mother years ago who taught special education. Barbara embraced this honor as one of her proudest moments of her career.

Of the Baptist faith, she played the piano and offered vocal solos for churches in her early years. She was a certified Kinder music teacher and organized the Marysville Children’s Choir many years ago. She was also a former den mother for Boy Scouts and a co-leader for Girl Scouts. Barbara was a selfless soul with a demeanor of encouraging and uplifting others. She was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.

She was born March 8, 1957 in Franklin County, Ohio to the late Billie and Bonnie Ball Fox. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her brother, Dan Fox. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Randy L. Demming, whom she married April 2, 1982 in Baltimore, Ohio; her children, Karana Demming of Marysville and David (Jenna) Demming of Marysville; two granddaughters, Elaina and Athena; her siblings, Rebecca (Gordon) Conn, Betsy (Tim) Starkey, Marla Fox, Eric (Melissa) Fox; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2025 at Underwood Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 18, 2025 at Franklin Hills Memory Gardens, 5802 Elder Road, Canal Winchester, Ohio 43110.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dave and Elizabeth Ward Scholarship Fund, through the Union County Foundation, which supports scholarships to a graduating Marysville High School Eagle Scout and a Marysville High School student pursuing a major in music.
