Barbara J Mahaffey, 82, of Zanesville passed at 6:35 A.M. Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at the Genesis ER.
She was born on Thursday, April 13, 1939 in Zanesville, OH the daughter of the late Ralph E. Porter and Lucile T. Dickson Porter.
Barbara was a member of Coburn United Methodist and former Secretary at First National Bank, then Secretary of West Muskingum Schools. She was active with her Ohio & Florida Church Families serving on various committees and women’s groups. Barb was an expert bargain shopper (especially for shoes) and she enjoyed going to yard sales, crafting and baking. She was generous in giving her time and services to others.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 63 years whom she married April 12, 1959, Robert David Mahaffey; Three children, Stacie Mahaffey of Zanesville, Jeffrey “Happ” (Vickie) Mahaffey of Zanesville, Lynne Hitchcock of Zanesville; 7 grandchildren Jayme Hitchcock, Lindsey Hitchcock, Stephaney Hitchcock, Gracie (Tyler) Tracey, Rachel Clapper, Cody (Erin) Huey, and Jessica (TJ) Baker; 10 great-grandchildren, Kylah Hitchcock, Cameron Hitchcock, Karter Campbell, Bryce Johnson, Liam Spragg, Issac Huey, Lydiah Huey, Jaycie Huey, Laila Sims, Lyla Sims; 2 Sisters: Phyllis (Al) O'Donnell of Mims, FL, and Robin (Floyd) Mason of Zanesville, OH.
In addition to her parents, Barb was preceded in death by her twin sister Bonita Cover, and two brothers Ralph "Rollie" Porter, and Daniel Porter.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. on Friday, March 11, 2022 at Coburn United Methodist Church and from 11:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. on Saturday, March 12, 2022 with funeral service to follow at 12:30 P.M. at Coburn United Methodist Church with Pastor Anthony Thomas officiating. Burial will conclude at the Zanesville Memorial Park.
