Barbara Louise Davis was born January 5, 1949, in Rock Hill, SC. She was the daughter of the late Alphonso and Louise Dye Davis.
A Life Well Spent…
She was educated in the public schools of York County and graduated from Emmett Scott High School in 1967, attended Johnson C. Smith University. She retired from the Charlotte Observer Newspaper. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® Barbara was a member of Flint Hill Baptist Church where she was a dedicated member, the Chairperson of the Board of Christian Education, Superintendent of Sunday School, Sunday School Teacher, Deaconess, Usher Board, Gospel Chorus, Senior Choir, Women’s Choir, spearheaded the 108 Church Anniversary Souvenir Journal, and Family & Friends Committee. Barbara entered eternal rest on Wednesday, June 17, 2026. She was preceded in death by her sister, Eunice Davis Blake, and niece, Ulricia Renee Davis.
Those Who Remain …
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: One sister, Darlene Heffney, Seattle, Washington, two aunts, Doshia Eva (Maceo) Jones, Joann Burris, Charlotte, North Carolina, uncle, Bill (Elise) Davis, Charlotte, NC and adopted daughter, Jamie Gore, and a nephew Channing Heffney, Seattle, Washington, and grandchild, Chase Smith. A host of cousins, relatives and dear friends. Two special friends: Stevie (Margaret), Anderson, and James Howard.
