Barry Grant Pursel

Barry Grant Pursel, 81, passed away peacefully at his home in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, on June 14, 2026.
Born in Pottstown on April 2, 1945, Barry was the son of the late Grant E. Pursel and Beatrice H. (McCormick) Pursel.
Barry graduated from Owen J. Roberts High School in 1963 and proudly served his country in the United States Navy. During his ten years of service, he spent seven years aboard a Fleet Ballistic Missile submarine before serving an additional three years as an instructor. He was honorably discharged in 1973 after a distinguished military career.
Following his service, Barry began a long career with Overnite Transportation, where he worked as a shift supervisor until his retirement. After retiring, he worked part-time at John Kennedy Ford providing transportation services.
He is survived by his son, Barry “Chuck” Grant Pursel, Jr., and his fiancée, Sharmila Reddy; his sisters, Sharon Toth, Diana Freese and her husband, Skip, and Teri Pursel and her husband, Jay; his brother, Scott Pursel and his wife, Skye; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Barry was preceded in death by his brother, Alan Pursel; and his brother-in-law, Toby Toth.
A service celebrating Barry’s life, including military honors, will take place on Monday, June 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the Garden of Prayer and Meditation at Highland Memorial Park, 701 Farmington Avenue, Pottstown, PA 19464.
