Bernice E. Hockensmith

Bernice E. (Stout) Hockensmith, age 89, of Adamsburg, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2023. She was born November 4, 1933 in New Stanton, the daughter of the late Cyrus and Edith (Billhimer) Stout. She worked for a few years as a waitress at the “Big T” Truckstop in Irwin before devoting her time to raising her sons. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of over 62 years Lester D. Hockensmith; and brothers Robert Stout and Ernie Billhimer. She is survived by her sons Lester D. (Patricia) Hockensmith of Greensburg, Gary A. Hockensmith of Adamsburg and John H. Hockensmith of Adamsburg; grandchildren Gretchen (David) Wilson, Stephanie (Greg) McCullough and Leslie (Aaron) Faulkner; great grandchildren Kayla, Landon, Haddie, Henry and Tanner; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends and family will be received Thursday 6 p.m. till time of service at 8 p.m. at the William Snyder Funeral Home, 521 Main Street, Irwin, 724-863-1200. Private interment will be at Westmoreland County Memorial Park.
