Betty was always kind and carried a positive attitude through the trial and tribulations of life. She never failed to say “thank you” to anyone who helped her. In 1995 Betty and Wilbur took the trip of a lifetime to celebrate Wilbur’s retirement and for betty to accept an award that she received. The trip took them through many states to eventually arrive in Los Angeles, CA where Betty accepted her award from the National Poets Association for a poem she wrote called “Portrait of Our Son”. The trip took them through Arizona where a photo was taken of her and Wilbur sharing a kiss and sitting on a wooden chair that was 10 times the size of a normal chair. The picture was adorable, so she named It “Wistful Moments of Endearing Love” and entered it into the Kodak Picture Contest where she received a “Special Merit Award” for the photo.
