Betty M. Weatherly
October 13, 1935 – June 28, 2026 (Age 90)
Betty Ruth Morris Weatherly, 90, of Mint Hill, peacefully left this world and was reunited with her beloved husband on June 28, 2026.
A lifelong resident of Mecklenburg County, Betty was born on October 13, 1935, the daughter of JW “Bub” Morris and Helen Cochrane Morris. She grew up surrounded by family, faith, and the familiar rhythms of the community she cherished.
After graduating high school, Betty married the love of her life, Francis “Bill” Weatherly, on December 29, 1957. Together they built a home grounded in devotion, hard work, and gratitude, and were blessed with three children who remained the center of her world.
Betty spent her early years as a homemaker, a role she embraced with joy and pride. Later, she worked for Barclay’s American as the Administrative Assistant to the CFO, where her steady presence, sharp mind, and warm spirit made her deeply valued. Outside of work, she found happiness in simple, meaningful routines—weekly library visits, long afternoons spent reading, tending to her yard, and walking the neighborhood she had called home since 1979.
A devoted member of Philadelphia Presbyterian Church, Betty lived her faith quietly and sincerely, offering kindness, steadiness, and generosity to all who knew her.
She is survived by her three children: Lynn Stephens of Mint Hill, North Carolina; Kay (husband Bobby) Newberry of Macon, Georgia; and John (wife Dawn) Weatherly of Mint Hill, North Carolina. She also leaves behind four grandchildren—Brian Stephens, Jason (wife Courtney) Stephens, Ashley (husband Derek) Bulmer, and Adam (wife Yasmin) Weatherly —and five great‑grandchildren: Bella Stephens, Caleb Stephens, Ella Bulmer, Bo Bulmer, and Bear Bulmer.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, on March 19, 2017, as well as her parents.
Betty's family has given the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of caring for her and for them. A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 2, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m at the funeral home, 4715 Margaret Wallace Road, followed by a service in the funeral home chapel at 3:00 p.m on Friday, July 3. Betty will then be taken in procession to her final place of earthly rest next to her husband at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Mint Hill.
In honor of her church family and in gratitude for the loving care shown to her in her final days, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Philadelphia Presbyterian Church in Mint Hill https://www.philadelphiachurch.org/give , VIA Health Partners Hospice https://www.viagiving.org/donating , or to a charity of your choice.
Betty Weatherly lived a life marked by devotion, gentleness, and quiet strength. Her legacy endures in the family she loved, the home she tended, and the community she served for nearly a century.
