Betty Sue Griffin Pope
September 25, 1931 - July 4, 2021 (Age 89)
Betty Sue Griffin Pope, 89, of Charlotte, NC, went to be with her Lord on July 4, 2021.
A native of Union County, NC, Betty was one of twelve children born to William Ellis Griffin and Myrtle Austin Griffin. She and her late husband, John T. Pope owned and operated Amplate, Inc. of Charlotte, NC. Betty was a long time member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church where she was active in many areas of service.
In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by a son, Reginald Blair Pope.
She is survived by her daughters, Sheila Wright and Karen Black; her son, Scott Pope; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 11:00 am Thursday, July 8, 2021, at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, Harris Campus Chapel, 7200 East WT Harris Boulevard in Charlotte, with her funeral service to follow at 11:00 am. The Rev. John Harrill and The Rev. Kelvin Smith will officiate. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hickory Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, 7200 East WT Harris Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28215.
