Bobby Glenn Griffin, of Mint Hill NC, a man of quiet strength and unwavering dedication, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born December 11, 1938 to Bob and Ethel Ross Griffin in the close-knit Union County community of Olive Branch, Bobby's life was a testament to hard work, loyalty, and the enduring bonds of family and friendship. In 1959, Bobby married the love of his life, Judy Drake Griffin, beginning a partnership that would span an incredible 64 years. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and mutual respect, raising two children and witnessing the joy of cherished grandchildren.
As a young man Bobby served in the NC Air National Guard and worked 42 ½ years at Overnite Transportation Company. His colleagues knew him as dependable, honest and always ready to lend a helping hand. His commitment to his work can be summarized by his deep-seated motto of “They never promised you an easy day, they just promised you a job”. His work life was paralleled only by his love for his family and his deep-rooted values of service and loyalty.
In his mid-forties, Bobby discovered a passion for running, a pursuit that would become a defining part of his life. Over the years, he logged an astonishing 27,000+ miles and completed 15 marathons, a testament to his discipline and determination. His love for the sport was more than just a personal achievement; it was a reflection of his unyielding spirit and his belief in the power of perseverance. Beyond his career and athletic accomplishments, Bobby found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid gardener, tending to his garden with the same care and attention he gave to all aspects of his life.
Above all, Bobby was a family man. He cherished his role as a husband, father, grandfather, and brother, finding immense pride and joy in the lives of his loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Ethel Ross Griffin, Brother-in-law, Avery Baucom and granddaughter, Mylee Sue Griffin and is survived by his beloved wife Judy, daughter, Annette Pigg and husband, Lee, son, Richard Griffin, grandchildren, Reagan, Wriston, Macie, and Maggie along with his sister, Elsie Baucom.
