Calvin M. Rogers
July 17, 1952 – August 5, 2026 (Age 74)
Calvin Morris Rogers, affectionately known to many as “Bubba,” age 74, of Rock Hill, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at home on September 5, 2026.
Calvin was born on July 17, 1952, in Lancaster, South Carolina, to Calvin Rogers and Lucille Hinson Rogers. As the son of a U.S. Navy sailor, Calvin spent his childhood in several places, including Charleston, South Carolina; San Diego, California; and Norfolk, Virginia, before moving to Rock Hill as a teenager. He attended Rock Hill High School.
After high school, Calvin worked as a carpenter alongside his uncle, building homes and learning skills that would serve him throughout his life. He had a natural talent for working with his hands and could build or repair nearly anything made of wood. He later worked in chemical manufacturing for Red-Line, Inc. and IVAX Specialty Chemicals as a chemical mixer. Later in life, Calvin had the opportunity to work alongside his son, Rob, at his auto body shop—a time he especially treasured because it allowed him to spend more time with his son.
Calvin enjoyed many things in life, including hunting, boating, fishing, motorcycles, and the great outdoors. But above all else, he cherished his family, especially his son, Rob, and his grandchildren.
Those who knew Calvin will remember his quiet, introverted nature, deep patriotism, strong work ethic, remarkable physical strength, and love of the outdoors—particularly the water. Most of all, they will remember the immense love he had for his family.
His grandchildren were the true joys of his life. He spent as much of his free time with them as he could, picking them up from school and taking them to the store to choose a special treat, getting down on the floor and letting them climb on his back for rides, reading books, pushing them on the swings, and giving them rides around the yard on the back of his motorcycle. To his grandchildren, he was their favorite grown-up playmate.
Some of their most treasured memories will be the days spent with their “Ga Ga” on his boat, fishing and enjoying time together on the water. These moments, filled with laughter and love, will remain with them always.
Calvin was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin Rogers and Lucille Hinson Rogers.
He is survived by his beloved son, Rob (Heather) Rogers of Rock Hill, SC; stepdaughter, Michelle (Donnie) Devinney of Myrtle Beach, SC; and three grandchildren, Hailey (Tyler) Livingston of Lindon, UT; Landon Rogers of Phoenix, AZ; and Dawson Rogers of Rock Hill, SC. He is also survived by his sister, Myra (Robin) Warren, and brother, Edward Rogers, both of Rock Hill, SC.
A graveside memorial service will be held at Grandview Memorial Park – Hollis Lakes on Saturday, September 12, at 11:00 a.m.
Calvin will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew and loved him. His memory will live on through the many lives he touched, the lessons he taught, and, most of all, the love he shared with his family.
