Carol J. Cataldo

Carol J. Cataldo, 76, of Virginia Beach, Va., formerly of Greensburg, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family, Sunday, March 19, 2023, after a brief battle with cancer. She was born Dec. 19, 1946, in Jeannette, a daughter of Mayme Yurt Amour and the late Earl Highlands Sr. Carol worked for 32 years in retail as a department manager at Hills and PetSmart. After her retirement, Carol moved to Virginia Beach, Va.. where she enjoyed relaxing at the beach, Silver Sneakers Fitness, crocheting, baking and creating greeting cards. She most enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. In addition to her father, Carol was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Joseph Cataldo Sr.; a daughter, Holly Cataldo; and her stepfather, John W. Amour. She is survived by her children, Tina Beranek and husband, Dave, of Virginia Beach, Va., and Joseph Cataldo and wife, Carla, of Virginia; grandchildren, Mikayla Beranek and fiance, Jalen Bullard, of Virginia Beach, Jonathon Beranek, and Anthony and Brandy Cataldo, all of Pittsburgh, and Jordan and Amanda Cataldo, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a brother, Earl Highland, of Jeannette; a sister, Malinda Sherid, of Greensburg; a brother-in-law, Neil Cataldo, of Washington, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the JOHN V. GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 228 N. Second St., Jeannette. A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. W. Stephen Morse officiating. Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Relay For Life, at cancer.org.
