Carolyn L. McIlnay

Carolyn L. “Carol” (Thomas) McIlnay, 76, of New Alexandria, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at Brookdale, Latrobe.

Born March 28, 1947 in Greensburg, she was a daughter of the late Marcus and Mae (Gess) Thomas.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed at Latrobe Steel. She was a member of the New Alexandria Ukrainian Club. Carol enjoyed reading and baking and made wonderful cookies. Her family meant everything to her, and she was always there to take care of everyone.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clair E. “Fritz” McIlnay; and two sisters, Dolores Edsall and Ruth Schuck.

Carol is survived by one son, Daniel E. McIlnay, and his wife Melissa, of Latrobe; one daughter, Kelley Conway of Evanston, IL; one sister, Joyce Wilkinson of Pleasant Unity; and five grandchildren, Kieran, Kaidan, McKenna, Caden, and Nathan.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Brookdale Latrobe and Independence Health Home Care and Hospice for their excellent care and compassion.

At her request, there will be no public visitations or services. Private interment was at Westmoreland County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society, P.O.
