Carrie JoAnn Bates, 90, of Zanesville, passed away at 7:05 a.m. Thursday March 5, 2026 at Genesis Hospice-Morrison House. She was born on April 27, 1935 in Zanesville, a daughter of the late Richard and Rosemary (Wyatt) Shultz. She retired from Brockway Glass after many years of service. She is survived by two sons Richard Bates and James Bates. Seven grandchildren Andrea, Tyler, Christa, Jenny, Kyle, Jamie, and Jenna. Numerous great-grandchildren. Two sisters Carol “Peach” (Arthur) Burns and Donna (Tom) Burns. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four children Rick, Randy, Jeff, and Connie. Three brothers Edward Shultz, George Shultz, and Richard Shultz. Two sisters Patsy Ann McCoy and Betty Griffin. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday March 9, 2026 at William Thompson & Son Funeral Home 5765 Gladstone Drive White Cottage where friends may call one hour prior to the service with Pastor Dean Cole officiating. Burial will be in Zanesville Memorial Park.
