Catherine T. Carpenter

Catherine Ann Thomas Carpenter, age 90, passed from this life to her heavenly home on December 12, 2022. She was born on May 7, 1932 near Marshville NC to Frank and Wilma Little Thomas. She worked on the family farm before moving to Charlotte to work for Duke Power and, in later life, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. She married Billy Parks Carpenter in 1954 and became a homemaker in the Mint Hill area, where she belonged to Mount Harmony and then Emmanuel Baptist Church. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; daughter, Marsha Burch (Richard); sister Alif Preslar (James); and brothers Edwin Neal Thomas (“Sam”; and wife Frances) and Kermit Wilson Thomas (“Chum”). Those who remain to honor her memory include two grandchildren, Wesley Burch (Kelly) and Rachel Burch; sister Geraldine Haigler (Everette); sister-in-law Joan Thomas; many nieces and nephews; and special friends. The family thanks the staff of the Aldersgate Life Plan Community and Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region for their care of Catherine. Memorial donations can be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association or agencies or churches mentioned above. A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Friday, December 16th at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Mint Hill, NC.
