Charles R. Saylor

February 15, 1945 – August 7, 2026 (Age 81)

Charles Ronald Saylor, 81, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2026, at his home in Lower Pottsgrove Township, Pennsylvania. Born in Pottstown, on February 15, 1945, Charles was the son of the late Harvey T. Saylor Sr. and Dorothy M. (Drumheller) Saylor.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his best friend & companion, Kim (Brightbill) King; his son, Charles Saylor Jr.; and his siblings, Edward Saylor, Kenneth Saylor, Doris Jane Griesemer, Kathryn Braunsberg, Carl Saylor, and Harvey Saylor Jr.

Charles is lovingly remembered by his children, Rhenda (Joseph) Terra, Jason Saylor, and Jenna (Tad) Doyle; his grandchildren, Seaver, Logan, Joey, Truett, Scottlyn, and Boston; his sister, Joyce Leister; many nieces, nephews, and in-laws; and countless loyal friends & patrons.

Charlie was a self-taught and made man, quitting school to work at a young age. His earliest jobs were selling flowers, parking cars, and as the rack boy at the local pool hall. For formal employment he spent many years in factories: Sunset Manufacturing Co., Creative Apparel, and Springford Knitting Co., all which closed during his tenure. He is characterized as the “smartest man I know”, “a natural people reader,” and someone who never needed a calculator. Although Charlie often made his own luck, he was given a chance as one of the only male bartenders in town by his late boss and friend at the Holy Trinity Club. He spent many years serving up the best spirits, sarcasm, and inappropriate jokes with a love me or hate me attitude.

He may have closed out his hustling career as a street savvy bartender, but it all began with his addiction to outsmarting anyone on the billiards table, sometimes costing him a fat lip, someone’s paycheck or a pink slip. A lifetime member of the Quoit Club, German Club, St Gabriel Lodge, West End Fire Company, and an annual member of the Holy Trinity Club, former Manatawny Association, and LPSA, Charlie was widely known in the Pottstown community. If there was a pool team being formed, you undoubtedly wanted him on your team. He will fondly be remembered as Pottstown Charlie, cheap Charlie, and Chas.

As a father, he is and will always be his children’s steady & reliable anchor. He was admirably dedicated to the love of his life, Kim, and deeply devoted to leaving a legacy for his grandchildren. He enjoyed saltwater fishing & camping in Delaware, golfing, nostalgia car nights, casino trips, and games of chance. Despite him being a closer in all aspects of his life: pool, negotiations, employment, and all the ladies’ hearts, it is hard to close the chapter on someone so large in life as Charlie Saylor.
