Charlotte Mae Hammond

Charlotte Mae Hammond, born June 19, 1945 died November 22, 2025.

Charlotte Mae Hammond beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away at the Atrium Health Hospice in Monroe, creating a void her family cannot fill.

Charlotte was born in West Chester, PA in 1945 to Alfred and Elma Sharp and with her twin Hope were the last of eight siblings. As farm children, they learned responsibility and sharing very early. Charlotte attended a number of local public schools and graduated from Media High School in 1963.

Charlotte married Francis J Hammond Jr. in August of 1963. She gave birth to Brian Scott Hammond in December 1964 and Dianne Lee Hammond in January 1967. She took great pride in being a mother and participated in her children’s activities and recognizing their accomplishments. In as much as she was devoted to her own children, she was even more passionately involved with her grandchildren and their lives. Charlotte had a smile for everyone and made fast friends her whole life. She enjoyed bowling and tennis when she was younger and became an avid Penn State football and Philadelphia Eagles fan.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her sister Arlene Young, brothers Wesley, Donald and Melvin Sharp. She was also preceded in death by granddaughter Samantha M. Hammond. Charlotte is survived by husband Francis J. Hammond, Jr., son Brian Scott Hammond and daughter Dianne Hammond Novak. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Johnathan M. Hammond, Luke J. Novak, Alex S. Novak and Victoria H Novak.

A memorial service is planned for December 13 in the Magnolia Chapel at the Matthews Glen Community of Acts Retirement Life Communities in Matthews, NC. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the American Cancer Society.
