Charlotte Mertz
August 11, 1926 - July 15, 2022 (Age 95)
Charlotte Mae (Wonders) Mitcheltree Mertz, 95, of Harrison City, went to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, July 15, 2022, at her home with her family by her side. She was born August 11, 1926, in Pitcairn, to the late Harry and H. Violet (Burkett) Wonders. Charlotte was a longtime member of Corinth Chapter of Eastern Star, a longtime and extremely active member of Highland Ave United Methodist/EUB Church, where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. Once they closed, she became a longtime member of the Center Ave United Methodist Church. She was a manager of the women's department of Kaufman's Department Store in Monroeville, and was a teller at Compass Savings and Loan in Wilmerding. Charlotte is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Dawn (the late Robert) Read; three grandchildren, Dawn E. (John) Dormire, Robert A (Tina) Read and Erin Read; great-grandchildren, Joshua and Jacob Dormire, and Allen, Kane and Isabella D'Andries; sister-in-law, Bronwen Wonders; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald Leroy Mitcheltree; second husband, Charles H. Mertz; and brothers, Thomas J. (late Mina) Wonders, Randolph Wonders and Harry Wonders. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-9 PM Monday at Lindsay-Jobe Funeral Home, Inc., 3343 Route 130, Harrison City (724-744-2721), where funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, with Rev. Daniel Cunkelman, officiating. Burial will follow in Penn Lincoln Memorial Park.
