Cherie Eileen Weiler

July 16, 1929 - December 1, 2024 (Age 95)

Cherie E. Weiler, 95, left us and went home to our Father in heaven on December 1st, 2024, with her family at her side at Kobacker House. Kobacker House was a wonderful place for her to spend her end-of-life journey.

Cherie was born on July 16, 1929, in Columbus, Ohio to Russell James Harvey and Charlotte Louise Teal. She graduated South High School and attended Saint Anthony Medical School. She met and married Jack H. Weiler who was a Columbus Firefighter. Jack passed in 1995 and Cherie, being a widow after his death, was surrounded by the brotherhood of firefighters, who took care of her and her household for 20 plus years. She worked the Toy Drive each year at Christmas. Her other love was volunteering and heading up fund raising for Easter Seals.

Cherie took on the role of motherhood to her three children and worked outside the home, teaching First Aid and volunteering as a Grey Lady for the American Red Cross. She worked for an eye doctor for a short while. Her last employment was Vice President of fundraising for the Fire Museum and later volunteered in the fire museum gift shop. She also served on the Board of Directors for the Fire Museum.

Cherie’s interests were many; she loved to bake and was a volunteer for the Quarter horse Congress. She was a longtime member of Eastern Star, Women’s Firefighter Auxiliary.

She was a longtime member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church located in the southend of Columbus on Markison Avenue. She was devoted to her church and took on many roles there.

Cherie Weiler is survived by her children: daughter Vicki Perkins (Dave) of OH; son Michael (Sue) Weiler of UT; son Dale Weiler (Carol) of AL. Her grandchildren: Kaitlyn Fornes (Loyd) of NC; Chad Weiler (Laura) of KY; Sean Weiler of AL; Yvonne Jackson of FL; Zabrina Weiler of UT. Her great grandchildren: Nash Koger (LeeAnn) of NC; Noah Fornes of NC; Kendeyl Jackson of FL; Keenan Jackson of FL and her great great grandchild, Miley Koger of NC.

Cherie was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Weiler; her parents Russel Harvey and Louise Teal; Brothers Richard Harvey, James Harvey, Jackie Harvey; granddaughter Cheryl Koger; and grandson Grant Allen Williams.
