Christina B. Urana (Filipich) Podbesek, 93, of Herminie, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October, 22, 2025. She was born October 24, 1931 in Penn, PA. Daughter of the late Matthew and Jenni (More) Filipich. She graduated from Penn Hills High School and received accreditation through Conley Vocational making her certified in typing and shorthand. Christina was a lifelong devoted member of St. Edward’s Church in Herminie, PA. She lived a life for Jesus and loved God and her church. She was a member of the altar rosary society and assisted in the weekly offertory deposit. She worked at the Gulf Building as a secretary for 15 years and was a bank teller for several local banks including Herminie First National Bank. She enjoyed gardening, canning and was the best baker; zucchini chocolate chip bread and rolls were her specialty. She was a big Pittsburgh Steeler’s and Penguin’s fan, enjoyed going to the casino and was in a card club. She held weekly Sunday dinners at her home with family; cooking everything from the garden but the meat. She enjoyed creating pottery, paint by number and listening to polka music. In her younger years, she enjoyed polka dancing at the Herminie Slovenian Club with her late husband Tony. She is preceded in death by both parents; loving first husband, Anton J. “Tony” Urana; husband, Donald E. Podbesek and brothers, Carl, Bernie and Max Filipich. She is survived by sons, Alan (Patti) Urana of Wexford, PA and Randy J. (Lisa) Urana of Irwin, PA and grandchildren, Paige (Ron) Zavasky, Christian Ritenour, Joseph Urana and Lauren Urana. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, October 24, 2025 at St. Edward Catholic Church, 120 St Edward Ln, Herminie, PA 15637 with Fr. David J. Nazimek officiating. Interment will follow at the Westmoreland Memorial Park Cemetery in Greensburg, PA.
