Clair E. McIlany

Clair E. “Fritz” McIlnay, 83, of New Alexandria, passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at Independence Health System Westmoreland Hospital.

Born September 16, 1939 in Luxor, PA, he was a son of the late Bernard H. and Pearl K. (Leonard) McIlnay.

Prior to his retirement, Clair was employed at Teledyne-Vasco. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran having served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the New Alexandria Ukrainian Club and was an avid fly fisherman and enjoyed gardening.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Lois Klimchock; and five brothers, Lester, Paul, David, Boyd and James McIlnay.

Clair is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carolyn L. (Thomas) McIlnay of New Alexandria; one son, Daniel E. McIlnay, and his wife Melissa, of Latrobe; one daughter, Kelley Conway of Evanston, IL; one brother, Jack McIlnay of Alexandria, VA; five grandchildren, Kieran, Kaidan, McKenna, Caden and Nathan; and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received from 3 to 6 pm Sunday at the Lopatich-Brinker Funeral Home, LLC, 601 Weldon Street, Latrobe. A funeral service will be held at 11 am Monday in the funeral home with the Rev. Jessica Felici officiating. Interment will follow at Westmoreland County Memorial Park with graveside military services accorded by the Greensburg V.F.W. Post No. 33.
