Clarence Bender Wotring

April 24, 1931 - May 21, 2025 (Age 94)

Frostburg, MD- Clarence “Pete” Bender Wotring, 94, of Frostburg, MD, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at Cumberland Healthcare Center.

Born April 24, 1931 in Cumberland, MD, Mr. Wotring was the son of the late Thomas James Wotring and Genevieve Leona (Smouse) Wotring. He was also preceded in death by a son: Thomas George Wotring; his sisters: Loretta Shrout and husband Gary; and Winnfield “Winnie” Brode and husband Howard; and a brother-in-law: Roland Stemple.

Pete was a graduate of Fort Hill High School Class of 1949 and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was formerly employed with Hygenic Pest Control and Tom Thumb Pest Control and also worked at various life insurance agencies in the area. He attended both Melvin Methodist Church and Mt. Top Holiness Church. Pete was an active member of the Ali Ghan Shrine Club, the Ali Ghan Motor Corps, and also the Mountain Lodge #99, Frostburg, MD as well as the Western Maryland Railroad Club.

Pete is survived by his son: Timothy Wotring and wife Pamela; his daughter-in-law: Cindy Stafford and husband Daniel; his grandchildren: Elizabeth Wotring, Timothy Wotring and wife Meagen; Joshua Wotring; and Matthew Wotring and wife Shannon; a sister: Agnes Stemple; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. The Mountain Lodge #99 will conduct a memorial service at 7:00 P.M.

A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Hal Atkins officiating.

Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Post #13 Veterans Honor Guard.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the Staff at UPMC-Western Maryland and also to Cumberland Healthcare Center for all the care and compassion. The family would also like to thank Pete’s neighbors Les and Nancy for looking after him and the assistance provided.
