Clayton Clay Smith Jr.

Clinton Clay Smith, Jr. passed away surrounded by family on May 13, 2026, in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was born on April 30, 1957, at Williamson Memorial Hospital in Williamson, West Virginia, the son of the late Clinton Clay Smith and Minnie Alice Smith.
He lived in Sidney, Kentucky, and later in Richmond, Kentucky.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Mitchell Smith of Point Pleasant, WV.
He is survived by his son, Clinton Clay Smith III “Trey” (Kate) Smith; grandson, Marcus of Monroe, NC; daughter, Jessica Smith; granddaughter, Khloie and grandson, Easton of Point Pleasant, WV. He is also survived by one brother, Jimmie Smith of Belfry, KY; sister, Betty (Dave) Reynolds of Point Pleasant, WV, and three sisters, Debbie (Dale) Bame, Ann (Peri) Vellayan, and Mary (John) Stafford, all of Charlotte, NC as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
There will be a graveside service at Sunset Memory Gardens in Charlotte, NC. on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 11:00 O’clock AM, with Pastor John McCants officiating.
