Clyde C. Shoemaker
February 10, 1929 - July 12, 2023 (Age 94)
Clyde C. Shoemaker, 94, of Raystown Road, Everett, PA; passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at UPMC Altoona Hospital. He was born on February 10, 1929 in Bedford, PA; a son of the late Carl M. and Edna Sarah (Growden) Shoemaker. On October 6, 1951 in LaVale, MD; he was united in marriage to Dolores P. (Pennel) Shoemaker. She preceded him in death on October 17, 2022.
He is survived by sister Phyllis Black of Fort Myers, FL and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his loving wife and parents he is preceded in death by sister, Betty Jane Shoemaker.
Clyde graduated from Bedford High School Class of 1947. Following graduation, he left home and went to Shanksville, PA to work on a farm. Uncle Sam wanted him to serve his country; he served two years in the U.S. Army, while enlisted he got married to Dolores. Clyde then came home and started to drive truck for Royal Transportation and Kramer Bros Freight Lines. They sold out and he was laid off. He then went on to groom dogs and drive school bus. After that, Clyde started driving truck for ABF, until his retirement in 1997. After retirement, he did odd jobs for friends around their homes.
Clyde was a member of Tatesville United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Everett Masonic Lodge No. 524 for sixty plus years and Tall Cedars Organization.
Friends and Family will be received on Monday, July 17, 2023 from 9:30 A.M. until the hour of service at the Akers Funeral Home, Inc., 299 Raystown Road, Everett, PA 15537.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday, July 17, 2023 at 11:30 A.M. in the Chapel at Akers Funeral Home with Pastor Sue Detterline officiating.
Burial will be held at Bedford County Memorial Park.
