Cynthia A. Murkley, 86, of Herminie, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2021, at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. She was born April 12, 1935, in Greensburg, daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth (Dunch) Shuster. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, John (Johnny) Murkley; stepfather, William "Bill" Elliott; and sister, Betty Ghion. Prior to her retirement, Cynthia was housekeeping supervisor at Briarcliff Pavilion Health Center in Irwin for 24 years. She was an avid reader of romance novels, loved to polka dance and enjoyed cooking for her family. She was a member of St. Edward Church in Herminie, Altar Rosary Society and past member of the Sunshine Club. She was a also a member of the Herminie VFW Post 8427 Ladies Auxiliary. Cynthia is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Michael Murkley; son, Michael F. (Susan) Murkley, of Philadelphia; daughter, Karen (Leonard) Vincler, of Shaler; two grandchildren, Nevin (Josh) Torres and Tyler Murkley and girlfriend, Taylor Sciarra; great-grandson, Carter James Torres; and nephew, Jeff (Lorraine) Ghion, and their daughters, Kathryn (Tom) Vey and Mariel Ghion and boyfriend, Roger Cooley. The family would like to thank Excela Health Home Care and Hospice for all their love and special care. Cynthia will be dearly missed by her family, friends and neighbors. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Edward Church, Herminie, with Father Vincent Yee-Concepcion as celebrant. Please go directly to church.
