Dale H. Durst
September 5, 1944 – July 29, 2026 (Age 81)
Dale Herbert Durst, age 81, of Mint Hill, North Carolina, stepped through Heaven’s Gates on July 29, 2026.
He was born on September 5, 1944, in Erie, Pennsylvania to the late Herbert and Doris Durst.
Dale was a graduate of Kings College in Charlotte, where he earned his associate degree and would later work in Electrical Sales for many years in the Charlotte area at EDI and Graybar. Dale proudly served his country in the United States Air Force where he was stationed at High Wycombe Air Station in England. Dale would later meet the love of his life, Brenda Whitener, and they were married on March 9th, 1974, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Morganton, North Carolina. Dale had many interests and enjoyments in his life including watching sports and going out to eat. He was also very active regarding his church life as well. Dale was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in North East, Pennsylvania and was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Charlotte, North Carolina. He also served as a leader in the Boy Scouts with his sons at Christ Lutheran in Charlotte; Troop 95. Dale was a kind, funny, and loving man who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Along with his parents, Dale is preceded in death by his sister, Carol. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Brenda Durst; sons, Matthew Durst and Stephen Durst; brother, David Durst; along with many numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, located at 1001 Queens Road, Charlotte, North Carolina. A funeral service to celebrate Dale’s life will be held following the visitation at 2:00 pm with Pastor Tim McKenzie officiating. Burial with military honors will follow immediately after the service at Sunset Memory Gardens in Mint Hill, North Carolina.
