Daniel J. Smith, Sr.

Daniel J. “Jack” Smith Sr., 77, of Jeannette, formerly of Herminie, died Friday October 29, 2021 in the Excela Hospital, Greensburg. He was born June 20, 1944, in Greensburg, he was the son of the late Oliver Jr. and Laura (Fisher) Smith. Prior to his retirement Jack was employed as a parts manager for Airtek Inc. of Irwin with 51 years of service, and was also at one time employed as a house painter, he was a member of the Jeannette Assembly of God Church, of Jeannette. Jack was a hardworking, dedicated family man, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Joanne (Montecupo) Smith. Surviving are his children; Kelly Moorhead and her husband, Matthew, of West Newton, Daniel J. Smith Jr., of Kennedy Twp., Stefanie Belville and her husband ,Christopher, of Jeannette; grandchildren, Jon, Madison and Jack; two brothers, Oliver Smith III and his wife, Maggie, of Hollidaysburg, and Rev. William Smith and his wife, Judy, of Mount Pierre, IN. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Monday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. at Ott Funeral Home Inc. 805 Pennsylvania, Avenue Irwin. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Greensburg. The Smith family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses and all the staff of Excela Westmoreland Hospital and Redstone Highlands, Greensburg for the compassionate care they provided Jack during his illness.
