Darel L. Flesik

Darel L. Flesik, 67, of Greensburg, formerly of Herminie, died unexpectedly in his home, Monday, Nov. 28, 2022. He was born Dec. 12, 1954, in Greensburg, son of the late Martin Jr. and Marcolina C. (Navone) Flesik. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Gerald "Jerry" Flesik and Barry L. Flesik; and brother-in-law, Philip Svesnik. Darel was a longtime employee and recent retiree of Powerex in Youngwood. He was a past member of St. Edward Church in Herminie. His social memberships included the American Legion Post 981 and VFW Post No. 33 in Greensburg; the A&B Club in Youngwood, and he was a devoted member of the AMS Club in South Greensburg. Darel's Favorite holiday was Christmas. He would often dress up and play Santa for various venues during the holiday season. He could also be seen driving around town in his Lincolns over the years. Darel is survived by his children, Dr. Simone Flesik, of Windber, and Fabio Flesik, of Greensburg: sister, Sandy Svesnik, of New Stanton; two sisters-in-law, Lois Flesik, of Grapeville, and Alison Flesik, of Herminie; numerous nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews. He is also survived and loved by his special friend, Bonnie Dudek, of Greensburg. Darel will be dearly missed by his family, friends and co-workers. Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9, 2022, at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., 404 Sewickley Ave., Herminie, PA 15637, 724-446-7251, at which time a funeral liturgy will be held in the funeral home, with father Vincent Yee Concepcion. Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township. In lieu of flowers, please make donations at a local Toys for Tots in memory of Darel, for his love of Santa.
