Darlene Elizabeth Horning

May 12, 1947 - August 9, 2024 (Age 77)

It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Darlene Elizabeth Horning (nee Snyder), age 77, who passed away peacefully on August 9, 2024, at 4:53 PM, surrounded by her loving family.

Born to Joseph and Ida (nee Green) Snyder on May 12, 1947, Darlene's life was a beautiful tapestry of dedication and love. Darlene graduated from Allegany High School in 1966. In that same year, she married the love of her life, Bradley Horning, and their nearly 59 years together were filled with happiness and blessings.

Darlene Horning had a strong sense of responsibility for her family. She was a devoted, nurturing mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who always prioritized her family. She was always thoughtful and provided them with help and a listening ear, and despite her illness, Darlene continued to show her love and support through her great-grandchildren's sports activities.

An avid reader, Darlene found joy in reading on her Kindle daily. She loved going camping with her family. In addition, Darlene cherished cooking and baking for her loved ones, ensuring the family would leave her house with blueberry, banana, zucchini, or pumpkin bread.

Predeceased by her parents, brother, Raymond E. Green of Bradenton, Fl, and great-grandson, Emmett Sensabaugh, Darlene's spirit is carried forward by her beloved husband, Bradley; her children, Darlene Renea Ganoe (John) of Fort Ashby, WV, and Erick Horning (Syully) of Cresaptown, MD; her grandchildren, Rachael Zimmerman, Robert Sensabaugh (Chloe), and Zachary Sensabaugh (Bethany); her great-grandchildren, Taleb Levine, Blake Sensabaugh, Leeland Zimmerman, Tegan Sensabaugh, Rosabelle Zimmerman, Eliana Sensabaugh, and Adeline Zimmerman; and her brother, Elesworth Joseph Snyder (Brenda) of Cumberland, MD.

Services to celebrate Darlene’s life will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., located at 15205 McMullen Highway, Cresaptown, MD 21502, officiated by Rev. Harold McClay and Rev. Patrick Buhrman. Prior to the service, there will be a viewing for two hours. Following the service, a burial will take place at the Restlawn Memorial Gardens, and a reception will be held at the Cresaptown United Methodist Church Hall.
